Data Collection Methods
Census conducted by combining personal interviews(CAPI, PAPI) and internet survey(CAWI).
Personal interviews(CAPI: Computer-Assisted Personal interviewing, PAPI; Paper And pencil Personal Interviewing)
Data collection from households by interviewers will be conducted using mainly mobile CAPI method but we will allow PAPI method partially. Interviewers can fill out the questionnaire on mobile application or paper.
Internet surveys(CAWI: Computer-Assisted Web Interviewing)
Households who meet the threshold can participate in the census themselves on the CAFF web site.
Statistics Korea and local governments collaborate to conduct this Census.
- The Census of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries is supervised by Statistics Korea and conducted in close cooperation with local governments.
- The personal interviews is performed by interviewers recruited by local governments and boroughs. Regional surveys on administrative Ri are responded by the heads of administrative Ri under the responsibility of civil officers in charge of Eup or Myeon.
Emergency Response Plan
KOSTAT is preparing measures to carry out the field survey method according to the level and timing of the infectious disease alert.
- Under the current COVID-19 situation, only CAPI and CAWI will be apply. But in case of a crisis, non-face-to-face survey methods(CAWI, CATI, mail survey, etc.) will be gradually expanded.
BLUE or YELLOWOutbreaks of a disease or a natural disaster in certain regions
- Personal interviews are replaced with CAWI or CATI if respondents refuse an in-person visit due to a regional outbreak
ORANGEThe disease outbreak or natural disaster is sporadic in nature
- Expand the use of non-face-to-face survey methods(CAWI, CATI, mail survey) to cover for on-site surveys.
- Conducting make-up surveys to supplement and complete the CAFF items.
REDSpread of a disease or a natural disaster in communities across the country (Normal survey work is impossible)
- Banning in-person survey, Shifting to the non-face-to-face survey methods(CAWI, CATI, mail survey).
- Reducing survey items (around 15 items for farming, forestry, and fishery households and their business situation, etc.)
- Conducting make-up surveys to supplement and complete the CAFF items.
